Dear families and friends,
Tomorrow we celebrate World Teachers Day - a day to celebrate the work of all staff at St Francis, acknowledging the important contribution they make to the community. Our day will begin with an assembly to show our appreciation for the staff and the positive impact they make. Please join us to help celebrate the day.

During the holidays Catholic Care informed us of Amrita's resignation from the organisation. This week we met with our new counsellor, Hannah. Hannah will begin next Tuesday and we look forward to introducing her to our community.

This week we sent home a letter explaining that October is World Mission Month. At St Francis we will celebrate Mission Week during week 4. Mission Week raises awareness and funds for Catholic Mission. This year’s World Mission Appeal is in support of the needs of children and families in Ghana, in West Africa. The children will be invited to bring money to spend on items or activities throughout the week ranging from 50c to $2.00. On the Friday we are encouraging all children to wear casual clothes for a gold coin donation to go towards the World Mission appeal.
Many families would recognise the portfolios that we have traditionally sent home to families at the end of the school year. As a parent I always loved going through the folder with my children discussing their work, looking at their achievements and being satisfied in seeing their growth as we compared term 1's work to term 4. However, there was also a sense of frustration that we waited until the end of the year to see this work. Wouldn't it have been more effective if I had seen it in a more timely fashion?
This year we have been trialling through class dojo, what we believe is a more timely method, to inform our families of their child/ren's progress. We are continuing to evolve the process and what it looks like. But I encourage all families to talk with their child/ren about their work and celebrate their achievements.

Congratulations to Miss Steph who is one of our educators in our OSHC service. Miss Steph has completed her Certificate IV in School Age Education and Care. Last Friday she attended her Graduation Ceremony. Well done Miss Steph!

We look forward to inviting our 2020 Transition students to their orientation mornings on Wednesday the 20th and Thursday the 21st of November. A parent information session and morning tea will be held the morning of the 20th.
