Friday 7th June

Dear parents, families and friends,

I trust that everyone had a wonderful Easter and a restful holiday. Our term is jammed packed with exciting events and activities. The two largest events are the Sports Day carnival on Friday the 7th of June and our biannual ‘We Are one’ concert on Friday 21st of June. Our theme for the concert is ‘A Night at the Theatre’ and classes have already begun nominating songs and choreographing dances for the concert.
We would like to thank the P&F committee for the coordination of the Easter raffle and the visit from the Easter Bunny. There were over 21 prizes altogether. Congratulations to Chung Nguyen who won both 1st and 2nd prize and Baxter Savy for winning 3rd prize.
I have been in contact with Ms Robbins during the holidays. She is recuperating well and is in good spirits. Thank you for keeping her in your prayers and thoughts. We have interviewed and appointed a teacher for Room 1 to begin on Tuesday of next week until Ms Robbins is able to return. Her name is Pauline Campbell. I know that we will all make her feel very welcome as she joins the team.
On the Thursday we participated in the ANZAC Day March. Thank you to families for your support in bringing your children to the ceremony.
During the holidays Ms Cattell and Mr Damien welcomed Peter Damien Hynes to their family. Weighing in at 9 pounds he has been an absolute dream baby so far and all are healthy and loving getting to know each other.
Mr Mark has given his resignation. We would like to thank Mr Mark for his contributions to the school and his work with the children over the years and wish him all the best for the future. We are currently shortlisting the position and will appoint a new inclusion support assistant in the coming weeks.

Looking forward to seeing our mother’s, aunties, grandmother’s and special women in our lives at our Mother’s Day Mass.

Introducing Father Giovanni

I am Fr. Giovanni and I was born in Sicily, Messina on the 24 June 1986. Although I share the same birthdav as St. John the Baptist, I was named after my maternal grandfather instead. I grew up in a normal catholic family and I am the third of five children. All my siblings are married and live in Italy and I am the only one far away from home. My parents have been long involved in the Neo-Catechumenal Way which is an itinerary of rediscovery of the promises of our baptism.
I studied in the public school in the little suburb called Santa Lucia which I grew up in. In secondary school I studied to be a chef and I graduated in 2005. I worked my culinary skills for a year but at the age of 19, I felt the call to serve the Lord in another way. I journeyed to a place near Rome in Porto San Giorgio, where I was sent to Australia to study and to be ordained for the Archdiocese of Perth. I studied at the Redemptoris Mater Seminary from February 2007 till the day of my ordination to the priesthood on 4 March 2016. Post ordination I served the community of Diocese of Adelaide for a month. I headed back to the archdiocese of Perth where I was appointed as Assistant Priest to the Canning Vale Parish. Although a newly ordained priest then, I was dutifully in charge of the Parish, due to the unfortunate illness of the Parish Priest for the next 2 years. I have just achieved my 3rd milestone as an appointed parish priest of St. Francis of Assisi Humpty Doo for the next term.
