prayer newsletter week 8
Dear families and friends,
This week at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School we welcomed back a very special visitor to the school, Healthy Harold. Throughout the week Healthy Harold and Suzi worked with everyone inside Harold's very special trailer on a range of topics.

Next week the students of St Francis will commence preparations to move NAPLAN testing from paper to online. These activities are part of a national program to transition all NAPLAN testing from paper to online testing by 2021. Around 60 schools from the NT, including our school, are preparing to transition to NAPLAN Online in 2020, with other schools to follow in 2021. Further information is included in our newsletter.

During the past few weeks the students have been working very creatively on their priceless art in readiness for the Annual Art Show next Wednesday. Please join us in the library from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, where classes will have their art on display. These pieces of priceless art can then be transformed into a number of items which would make for marvelous gifts to share with family and friends for Christmas.

We are sad to announce that Miss Hayman, who returned to St Francis earlier this year as our Arts and PE teacher, will be leaving us. Miss Hayman will be travelling and working in Canada. On behalf of the whole school community, we thank Miss Hayman for everything she has done and we wish her all the best as she begins this very exciting journey.
Miss Leanne, who is currently an ISA in Room 11, has been offered the position of Arts and PE at St Francis. Miss Leanne is a qualified teacher and before joining us at St Francis worked at Primary Schools in Palmerston as a classroom teacher. We are pleased that Miss Leanne has accepted this role and look forward to continuing to working with her next term.

The Commonwealth Bank annual teacher and leader awards nominations are currently available. If you wish to nominate a teacher or leader please follow the link https://teachingawards.com.au/
Closing date for nominations is Friday the 27th of September.

Please remember that the school is closed tomorrow while staff attend professional learning in the area of Catholic Identity. The theme for the day is "The Catholic Church in Australia: Exploring Identity and Mission" with Professor Br David Hall fms.

Grow in wisdom and love
