Message from Jen

2022 has come to an end and holidays are upon us.

Thank you to our amazing parent and community group! I feel blessed to be part of such an engaged, supportive and vibrant community. I embrace being in a school community where parents collaborate with the staff and share their ideas, impart their knowledge of where things could be changed and encourage the great things that they see. It is so nice to have so many friendly faces in our school and we appreciate the time given to have a chat. Our school community is awesome and the staff look forward to collaborating with you in 2023 as we build stronger connections.

A massive thank you to all the staff in 2022! There is so much that happens behind the scenes and we appreciate all they have done for the students at St Francis of Assisi this year. We wish our staff a very relaxing break as they enjoy quality time with their loved ones during the holidays.

We farewell our graduating Year 6 students this week. They had a big day out on Monday playing laser tag and bowling as they shared memories together. It is an exciting time as they move into Middle School but also a time where they have many questions about life beyond the primary years. We hope they have many fond memories of their primary school years and we wish them all the best on their new adventure. They are to be commended on their positive growth and development, and the many smiles they have brought to those they have crossed paths with. The graduation dinner was a wonderful evening and we thank the Year 6 students, families and staff for making this night memorable.

We say a final farewell to Mrs Cara Flynn and Mrs Mary Kangaharan this week. We thank Cara for her many contributions to the St Francis Community and wish her and her family every blessing as they settle in Queensland. We thank Mary for her time at St Francis in Term 4 and wish her well in her future endeavours.

Mrs Janine Woodroffe has decided to take a rest before deciding her next venture. The St Francis of Assisi community thanks Janine for all of her efforts, creativity and care she has shown to all of the students in her time here. She will be missed here and we wish her all the very best in her future endeavours.

We welcome Ms Janine Roach and Ms Roxanne Woolley to St Francis of Assisi as classroom teachers in 2023. Janine Roach is an innovative and experienced educator with a passion for empowering primary students to be confident, emotionally healthy members of society and is experienced in designing and implementing pathways for student success. We welcome Roxanne Woolley as a fulltime classroom teacher, she is passionate in making a positive difference in the lives of students, encouraging them to strive to reach their best. We have finalised further staffing, however, as they are moving from current teaching positions we will announce these appointments next week to give their current school the opportunity to share the news with their community. Thank you for your understanding.

We have 5 classes in 2023 with small class sizes. Our focus is on setting personalised learning goals for all students and differentiating the curriculum to meet the needs of the individual learner. Our skilled teachers in collaboration with the positive connections between home and school will provide a learning environment with explicit teaching targeting every student's needs, ensuring all students experience success in their learning across the curriculum. Our composite classes will comprise of:
Transition/Year 1
Year 1/ Year 2
Year 3/Year 4
