“Teachers open the door, but you must enter by yourself” – Chinese proverb

We thank our parents who joined us for learning conversations with your child to see the great work they have achieved so far in Term 1. It was an opportunity to highlight the strengths of your child and their future focus areas. It also provided the opportunity for our parents to see how their child is progressing both socially and academically. A huge thank you to our amazing teachers for their efforts this term and for the time they put into preparing for the learning conversations. Our teachers are eager to keep the lines of communication open, so we encourage you to contact them as needed.

Congratulations to the Year 3 & 5 students who have participated in National testing over the last two weeks. We will notify families as soon as the results are available. Students who were absent for one or more tests, will have an opportunity to catch-up over the next few days.

I have had recent enquiries around the use of fidgets/sensory tools being available to students who require these. I just wanted to clarify that if a child needs these to self-regulate and assist with task focus, they are available in all classes, and are used daily in classes. Therapists recommend fidget toys that require tactile as opposed to visual attention, especially in a classroom setting so as not to draw focus away from the teacher or distract others around them. We continue to have a variety of sensory tools available, and our staff are very attentive to the individual needs of students. If you ever have a query or concern, please contact the classroom teacher or leadership team, for a discussion.

Our first coding club session was a huge success. Our Year 6 student leaders were superstars working with the students showing them how to code using Scratch. As one child left the club they expressed very loudly, “That was awesome!”

I will be away at a conference next Monday to Wednesday, Jan McCarthy and our teachers will be available as needed. I will be back wearing my cowboy boots for the Hoedown next Friday
31st March to enjoy fun times with all our families.

Our Year 5/4 class will be sharing their talents at our assembly on Friday.

Have a brilliant weekend.
Jen
