Dear Families and Friends,
Last Friday evening we hosted our first Trivia Night at St Francis. It was a tremendous success and a huge thank you to Megan Page for her coordination and organisation of the evening and all those who helped out. It was definitely a fun-filled evening with great food, amazing company and loads of laughter. We were all still buzzing about the night this week. Congratulations to all the winners. We would also like to thank all the businesses who contributed through donations for our Trivia night. The monies raised will go towards the upgrade of the playground equipment next to the undercover area.
Our next event, Movie Night, which was timetabled to occur in two weeks time, has had to be postponed due to the screen needing to go in for a service. We will keep you posted in regards to when this will be rescheduled.

This week we welcome to our school the Millar family. Riley joins Room 11 and Addison has become part of Room 2. We know that they have been made to feel very welcomed into our school community.

National Road Safety Week 2021 is from the 16th of May to the 23rd of May. We have been discussing how we can keep safe in our classes with a very special visitor dropping into St Francis; Hector the Cat.

On Monday at 11:00 am St Francis of Assisi will join with all Catholic Schools from across the country to celebrate 200 Years of Catholic Education in Australia. All families and friends are invited to help us celebrate.

Room 2 this week welcomed Kori Holland, a Year 10 student from MacKillop Catholic College, to complete a week of work experience in our school. Kori is also a former student of St Francis so it was wonderful to welcome her back to school and see how much she has grown and matured over the years.
Next Thursday marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week. This is an important time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. This year’s theme is: More than a Word. Reconciliation takes action. On Wednesday it is National Sorry Day, we will commemorate this day with a morning liturgy and asking the children "What does sorry mean to them?" This will be displayed around the school and reflected on during the week. Friday our assembly will have students from different classes share some activities they have been participating in and on Monday our Year 6 students will lead reading activities of Dreamtime stories. We will also launch our Reconciliation Action Plan for St Francis of Assisi during the week.

Grow in Wisdom and Love.
