A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Tomorrow as a school we celebrate Harmony Day which recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. Much like Australia, our school is very diverse which I believe is one of our real strengths.
We invite students to wear something that represents their family background or something orange which is the colour of Harmony Day. The school will hold a special assembly on this day and students will learn about different countries and cultures.

St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Humpty Doo is again offering a Sacramental Program this year. Classes for the program are held at 5 pm on Sundays in the school library and conclude with participation in the Sunday Mass at 6pm at the church. For more information please see the letter from Father Rodrigo included in the newsletter. Father Rodrigo is also looking at mid-week sessions if there is sufficient interest. Information and enrolment forms are available from the school office.

This week we had a visit from the NET (National Evangelisation Team) to work with students across the school. On Tuesday our senior students took part in a retreat day focussing on friendships and engaging with faith. On Wednesday the NET Team held introduction sessions and focus on empathy, compassion and respect linking to Lent and St Francis for our junior and middles classes.

Staff Formation Day - School, ELC, OSHC Closure Day
We will hold a Staff Formation Day on Friday June 6th with a focus on the Year of Jubilee. This is part of our ongoing effort to live out our Catholic identity. In previous years such days have been a school closure day but our Early Learning Centre and Outside of School Hours Care program have continued to operate. However this year, as per a directive from Catholic Education Northern Territory, our ELC and OSHC will also close on this day to allow all staff to attend.
I am aware that this may prove challenging to some families. In order to minimise this impact, families have been provided the greatest amount of notice possible. The date for the closure day was selected with our families in mind being the Friday prior to King's Birthday Public Holiday on the Monday. Finally, we will work with other centres in the CENT system to provide alternative childcare arrangements where possible.

Our P&F team is holding a cake stall at Bunnings in Palmerston this Saturday (March 22nd). Please contact the office if you are able to provide items for the stall or serve at the stall. Last year the Bunnings cake stall was a great success and the P&F raised over $1000. This money is used at the school to provide enhanced learning opportunities for students.
