A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

unnamed
Hi All,

This week we celebrate the miracle of Easter and at the same time mourn of the passing of Pope Francis. It is a blessing that despite recent health concerns Pope Francis was able to deliver a final blessing to the crowd at St. Peter's basilica on Easter Sunday. It is also fitting that Pope Francis enters heaven in 2025 - a year of Jubilee in the Catholic Church.

Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio on Dec. 17, 1936 in Buenos Aires, he taught us to live the values of the Gospel with courage and universal love, especially in favour of the poorest and marginalised. His efforts for the betterment of humanity through his humility and ultimate selfless love has left an indelible mark on the world. May his incredible legacy guide each of us to work for a more just and compassionate world.

Please find attached a message from Bishop Charles acknowledging the death of our Pope and offering his prayerful reflection on Pope Francis who he lovingly describes as a, "Wonderful man of God and a true servant of Christ."

ANZAC Day
This Friday marks ANZAC Day which is an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by all those who have served and who are currently serving their country. As a school we will hold a special ANZAC Day assembly on Thursday April 24th from 8:30am in the Undercover Area. The school will also take part in the Humpty Doo community ANZAC Day Service at the Village Green. Our school choir will be performing the National Anthem and we invite any students who wish to join the march to meet at the Taminmin College carpark at 8:45am - we ask that students attending wear their full school uniform.

Staffing Update
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that our school Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Worker (AIEW) Mr Jackson Chisholm will be leaving us to join the Navy. Mr Jackson has been a much valued member of staff at St Francis of Assisi since the beginning of 2023. He will be sadly missed by the students, staff and families of the school community. On behalf of the school I would like to thank Mr Jackson for all his efforts during his time at St Francis and wish him all the best for the future! The school will commence the process for recruiting a new AIEW shortly.

With Faith in their Future
