A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

unnamed
Hi All,

Last week as a school we marked ANZAC Day with a special ceremony on Wednesday. ANZAC Day is an opportunity to remember and honour those who fought and died for freedom. We do not glorify war but to remember those who have served our country during times of crisis and to reflect upon their selfless sacrifice.

We recognise that there are many men and women around the world still working for peace and we hold fast to the powerful hope that peace can exist today.

Well done to Mrs Dando and the members of the choir who represented the school at the ANZAC Day service in Humpty Doo. The choir was given the honour of performing the national anthem at the service. Thank you to all the families who made this possible.

Catholic Identity Day
On Friday the school held a closure day for staff to take part in a Catholic Identity Day. The day was led by Sister Catherine Mead and Sister Núria Miró and focused on the life and charism of
St Francis of Assisi.

It was a great chance for our staff to get to know more about the life and teaching of our school’s patron Saint. I understand that school closure days are a challenge for families and after consulting with the School Board we selected a date that would work for families.

Mother’s Day Celebrations
Next weekend is Mother’s Day which is a chance to recognise all the efforts of all the mothers in our community. We invite all members of the school community to join us on the morning of Friday May 10th for a special breakfast, Mother’s Day activities and a liturgy.

Our Parents and Friends are also holding a special Mother’s Day raffle with first prize being a special pamper package. So far, we have received generous donations from The Tao House, Humpty Doo Nails and @CreativeCrafters2. If you would like to purchase additional tickets or have any items to donate please contact the front office.
