A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Last week staff from St Francis of Assisi joined with colleagues from Sacred Heart, Mother Teresa and the Catholic Education Northern Territory office to take part in a shared writing moderation session. This wonderful professional development opportunity gave our teachers who work with other teachers of the same grade level to assess student writing pieces to identify strengths and plan for future improvement.
As a small school it is so valuable for our staff to work with colleagues from other schools and the Catholic Education Northern Territory office. One area that we have focussed on this year has been developing partnerships to improve outcomes for the school, staff, students and families. This has involved building positive relationships with other schools particularly other Catholic schools and external organisations such as Be You and Catholic Care.

School Board Annual General Meeting
At the end of October we held our School Board Annual General Meeting. I would like to thank those who were able to attend. I am very pleased to announce that Kirsten Beames will continue in the role of School Board Chair for 2025. We still have positions available for parent representatives for the board in 2025. If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else please contact me directly.
Over the past week we have held orientation sessions for both our incoming and outgoing students for 2025. Our current Grade Six students took part in a special transition day last week where they took part in a range of activities to help prepare them for high school. We were lucky to have sessions conducted by staff from Catholic Care and the Northern Territory Police. A big thank you to our Pastoral Care and Wellbeing Leader, Roxanne Woolley, for organising the day.
On Wednesday, our 2025 Transition students took part in their first of four orientation sessions. The sessions were led by Transition teacher Evi Dando and provided the students with a chance to become more familiar with the classroom and school environment. The orientation sessions will continue to be held on each Wednesday morning in November.

On the subject of new faces, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Benson Rose and his family to St Francis of Assisi. Benson has joined our Junior P class from Zuccoli Primary School. I am sure that everyone will make him and his family feel most welcome at our school.
As we enter cyclone season I wanted to share the school’s updated Cyclone Management Plan with all families. The plan below goes through the actions that the school will take in case of a cyclone.
