A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

unnamed
Hi All,

On November 11th we came together as a school community along with our Parish Priest
Father Rodrigo to mark Remembrance Day with a special liturgy. The service included prayers, a recitation of The Ode and a minute's silence. It was a very moving liturgy where all the staff and students were able to reflect on the sacrifice of those who have served our country.

Congratulations
A big congratulations to Josephine Santos and her partner Dave on the safe arrival of their first child. Baby Ted arrived a little early on Monday November the 11th, both mum and bubs are doing well. I would also like to thank Miss Leanne who will be with the Junior S class on a full-time basis for the remainder of the school year.

Darwin Christmas Pageant
On Saturday the school joined other schools and community groups from around the region to take part in the Darwin Christmas Pageant for another year. It was a very hot afternoon but all our snowmen survived and represented our school with pride. I was very pleased to again have such a great turn out of families from our school community. A big thank you to all those who assisted on the day and in the lead up in making costumes. Unfortunately, this year we didn’t receive any official prizes but I have had nothing but positive feedback about the school’s entry.

The Christmas festivities continue this Saturday with the school choir performing at the 2024
Rural Carols at Bees Creek Primary - all are welcome to come along to this wonderful family event. The school has also started our annual Vinnies Christmas appeal where families can donate
non-perishable items which will go to St Vincent de Paul Society to help those in need during the Christmas period.

Staffing Update
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that Michael Anderson has informed me that he will be taking up a position at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Wadeye in 2025. Mr Michael has been a much loved member of the St Francis of Assisi community for some time in his roles with Outside of School Hours Care program and in the Early Learning Centre. As I said to Michael, I am very sad for us at St Francis but excited for him for this exciting adventure.

Semester Two Reports
Staff are currently busy completing assessments and writing student reports for Semester Two. The bi-annual formal report is one way in which the school communicates with families around the growth and development of students. Student reports should be part of an ongoing conversation between school and home.

Hard copy reports will be sent home with students on Monday December 9th and electronic copies can be made available on request. The reports are sent home prior to the end of the year to allow for any required follow up with classroom teachers or myself. If you have any questions about your child’s report please do not hesitate to call.
