A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

unnamed
Hi All,

As the 2025 school year rapidly draws to a finish, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the staff, students and families of the St Francis of Assisi school community for all their efforts throughout the year. It has been a year of many achievements and highlights across the school. I would like to especially acknowledge the Grade Six students and their families as they finish their time at Primary School. I hope that their time at St Francis of Assisi has helped them grow in wisdom and love. I wish them all the best with their future adventures.

It has been an action-packed end to the term with a number of events and activities taking place. Our School Choir under the guidance of Mrs Dando did a wonderful job at the Rural Carols event recently. Last Thursday, our Grade Four students enjoyed a wonderful excursion to the Darwin Museum where they were able to extend their learning about biomes and animal adaptations. Also on Thursday, a number of our students were recognised for their achievements at the Darwin Language Centre Awards Evening.

The events have continued this week with our Junior D and Junior S classes taking part in their swimming program. Tomorrow, Friday December 6th, our Grade Six students will host a disco to raise money for their upcoming Fun Day and Graduation Dinner. Students will be able to purchase lolly bags and glow sticks at the Disco. The Grade Six students will head to the Wave Pool on Tuesday, December 10th for their Fun Day.

On Wednesday December 11th at 9am we will hold our End of Year Mass and Graduation ceremony. I invite all members of the St Francis of Assisi school community to join us this morning to mark the end of the 2024 school year. Finally on our last day for students, Thursday December 12th we will hold a special pizza lunch thanks to Paul Burgess. Mr Burgess was one of the winners of the P&F 100 Square Raffle but kindly donated the funds back to the school for the students to enjoy a pizza lunch.

Throughout the busyness of the end of the year and Christmas period it is easy to forget the true meaning of this time of year, that being the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. As a school we have been reflecting on the season of Advent which is the period of preparation prior to Christmas. Each of the four weeks of Advent have a theme which offers a great opportunity for us to stop and reflect. The four themes are Hope, Peace, Love and Joy, each of which Jesus showed examples of through his teaching.

Congratulations Ms Sarah
This term we have had the pleasure of having Ms Sarah Kukulies complete a placement as part of her study in the Junior S class. Sarah has been a wonderful addition to the school and I am sure will be a great teacher in the future.

Reports
On Monday December 9th all families will receive their child’s Semester Two school reports. Please take the time to read your child’s report and reflect with them on their achievements and growth for the year. If you are unsure about anything or would like any further information please contact your child’s teacher. Hard copies of the reports will be sent home on Monday, if you require electronic copies as well please contact the school office.

2025 Classroom Teachers
I am very excited that our classroom teaching staff are all confirmed for 2025 with minimal changes. We welcome Lachie Brodie as a classroom teacher for next year. Mr Brodie is well known to students and families through his roles as an ISA and OSHC Educator over the past few years. He has recently completed his studies and is eager to commence his teaching career. Josephine Santos is currently on family leave and plans to re-join us in Semester Two in a part-time capacity.
