A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

unnamed
Hi All,

We have had a wonderful start to the school year. It has been great to see so many faces both new and old around the school. It is a real credit to families and staff to see how well the students have settled into school routines.

This year we have welcomed 17 new students into our Transition class, many of whom attended our Early Learning Centre. We have also welcomed 17 new students in other year levels. This brings our total school enrolments to 104 students.

Tomorrow morning (Friday February 7th) from 8:25 am we will hold our first assembly for 2025. The assembly will include the presenting of classroom awards and birthday certificates. We will also hear speeches from the Grade Six students who have nominated themselves to be School Captain this year. Families are always welcome at assemblies.

Next Friday (February 14th) we will hold our Opening School Mass in the undercover area at school from 9am. Families are again welcome to attend this special occasion. The ceremony will also include the presentation of student leaders for 2025.

Safer Internet Day
Safer Internet Day takes place on Tuesday February 11th and is a global day of action bringing communities, schools, organisations and families from more than 180 countries together to raise awareness of online safety issues and work towards a safer internet.

The eSafety Commissioner leads the day in Australia and they are calling on all Australians to help make the internet a safer, and more positive place. At school we will run sessions across all classes. Resources for families can be found on the eSafety Commissioner website: https://www.esafety.gov.au/newsroom/whats-on/sid

School Board Meeting
Our first School Board meeting will be held on Monday February 24th at 5pm in the School Library. The School Board is an advisory body that offers guidance and advice to me as the Principal to best meet the needs of the school community.

The School Board meets around six times per year and is made up of representatives of the school, parish and parent community. There are some vacant positions on the board, if you are interested or would like more information please contact me directly.

Uniform Reminders
It has been great to see most students wearing the correct school uniform - including lots of brand-new shoes! Just a couple of reminders, students are required to wear a hat during playtimes. If a student does not have a hat they have to play in the undercover area. Students should only wear plain white or navy socks. Finally, school jackets are available for purchase. If a student doesn’t have a school jacket we ask that they wear a plain navy jumper/jacket.

Save the date - Conversations for Learning
This term’s Conversation for Learning meetings with parents and classroom teachers will be held on Tuesday February 25th. Bookings will be open shortly.
