A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Welcome back for Term Three! It has been wonderful to see how well all the students have settled back into the routines of school. We have a very busy term ahead of us with lots of events and activities planned.
|
Our first major event of the term is our Sports Carnival on Friday August 2nd. We welcome all families to come along and cheer on all the students. Lunch order forms for the day have been sent home and our Parents and Friends will be operating a coffee and cake stall on the day. This year we will also be joined by some Year 10 students from MacKillop Catholic College who will be assisting on the day as part of their Community Coaching subject.

This term we have welcomed Ivy Ngo to our Junior S class. Ivy has joined us from Sacred Heart Primary School in St Albans, Victoria. We also welcomed back Walter and Henry Page who returned to St Francis of Assisi after traveling around Australia for the past six months.
|
It is with a heavy heart that I pass on the news that Kerry Withers has made the decision to retire. Kerry has been a much valued staff member at St Francis of Assisi school community since 2009. She will be sadly missed by all the staff, students and families of the school. Today is Kerry's final day at school before she takes some much deserved leave prior to her retirement.

I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Clare Nolan as Deputy Principal of St Francis of Assisi. Clare is currently a Classroom Teacher and Religious Education Coordinator at St Mary's Catholic Primary School in Darwin. Clare has previously taught and held leadership roles at
|
St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Beechworth, Victoria. Clare will begin at St Francis of Assisi officially from August 19th but will spend time at the school over the coming weeks.

The families of Grade 3 and 5 students who completed NAPLAN earlier in the year received their Individual Student Reports this week. These reports provide a 'snapshot' of each child's achievement on those assessments. NAPLAN is just one part of the school's ongoing assessment of our student's progress.
|
On behalf of the St Francis of Assisi school community, I want to pass on my congratulations to Josephine Santos and her partner on the news that they are expecting their first child. Josephine is due in early December and plans to continue working until the middle of Term Four.
