A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
|
|
It is my great pleasure to welcome everyone to the 2026 school year. I am especially excited to welcome all the new families who have joined our school community this year. We begin 2026 with 123 students across six classes which is the highest enrolment the school has had for some years. The continued growth in the school community over the last few years is a testament to the hard work of the staff.
|
For those new to our school community, I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself. I am originally from Victoria but began my teaching career in the Northern Territory in the remote community of Milingimbi. I loved my four years in the Territory but then returned to Western Victoria where I taught and held leadership positions in Catholic Primary schools in the Ballarat Diocese. In 2020 I was appointed Principal of St Patrick's Primary School in Stawell.

After living through the Covid-19 pandemic and the seemingly endless winters in Victoria my wife Nicki and I decided to move back to the Top End for the lifestyle opportunities it offers us and our three primary school-aged children. I was appointed Principal of St Francis of Assisi in the middle of 2023. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the school and am looking forward to what's ahead.

I would like to invite all members of the school community to join us for our Opening School Mass on Thursday February 12th from 9:30am in the Undercover Area. It will be a wonderful opportunity to gather as a school community along with our Parish Priest, Father Mate Litric, to officially mark the beginning of the school year.

Just a few reminders as we begin the school year:
|
- Before school supervision begins at 8am - children should not be dropped off at school prior to 8am. If you require supervision before 8am the school offers Before School Care (please contact the office to arrange a booking).
- Students are expected to come to school in full uniform each day including black shoes and plain socks. All uniform items including school jackets are available to purchase from the front office. Students always need to wear a hat at playtimes.
- ClassDojo is used as our main form of communication. Notices of upcoming events and learning activities are communicated on ClassDojo. Families can also use ClassDojo to contact teachers.
- If you would like to get involved in the school we have a Parents & Friends group which focusses on fundraising and events. We also have a School Board which is an advisory board for the school. If you would like any more information please contact the office.
The school will hold a Parent Information Night on Tuesday February 17th - more details will be communicated shortly.
