A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
|
|
This week marks the Feast of Day of Saint Mary MacKillop - Australia’s first Saint. During her life, she founded the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart (the Josephites), a congregation of religious sisters that established a number of schools and welfare institutions, emphasising education for the rural poor.
|
The legacy of Saint Mary of the Cross lives on today through these schools and institutions. Like many Australian Catholics, I feel a personal connection to Mary MacKillop having previously led a school, St Patrick’s Stawell in Victoria, which was set by the Josephites.
|
Last Friday we held our annual Sports Day and despite some unseasonal weather to start the day it was a wonderful occasion. It was great to see all the students trying their best across the running and field events. Days like this take a lot of work in the background and we were blessed with an army of helpers including staff, students, parents as well as visitors from Mackillop College.

Today, Thursday August 7th, between 3pm and 6pm is our annual Art Show. This is a great opportunity to celebrate the many talents of our students. All students have completed a self-portrait which will be collated on a tea towel which can be ordered as a fundraiser for the P&F. There is also a portrait competition where students can enter artworks of all styles and there will be a range of prizes on offer.

Catholic Education Northern Territory is currently undertaking a strategic planning process to formulate the next strategic plan - Towards 2029. Input is being sought by all stakeholders including staff, students and families of CENT.
