A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
|
|
This week marks the beginning of Lent which is the 40-day period of reflection: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving leading up to Easter. During this season Catholics are called to enter more deeply into the mystery of Jesus’ suffering, death and Resurrection at Easter. Lent lasts for 40 days to reflect the 40 days and nights that Jesus spent in the desert.

As a school we marked the coming of the season of Lent by the annual Shrove Tuesday celebrations with a special pancake morning tea. This was followed by an Ash Wednesday mass and the distribution of ashes led by Father Mate. It was great to have a number of parents join us for the service on Wednesday morning.

As almsgiving is an integral component of Lent, the school will again be taking part in Caritas Australia’s annual appeal - Project Compassion. For over 60 years, Project Compassion has brought together schools, parishes, communities and individuals to reflect, pray and take action, helping to create a more just world for all. Conversations for Learning
|
Thank you to all the families that attended our Back to School Info Night this week. For those who were unable to attend our classroom teachers will send a flip book with important information for the school year.

The school will hold Conversations for Learning meetings on Tuesday March 10th between 3pm and 6pm. This is an opportunity for you to meet with your child’s classroom teacher to discuss their progress and achievement. Meetings will be held in person or by phone and bookings can be made by using the link below: https://www.schoolinterviews.com.au/code/cf7hf

The families of students with additional learning needs will be invited to take part in more detailed Educational Adjustment Plan (EAP) meetings later in March and will be contacted shortly.

A reminder that Grade 3 and 5 students will take part in the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) assessments between March 11th and 23rd. More information about NAPLAN can be found in this newsletter or via the website: https://www.nap.edu.au/naplan/for-parents-carers. If you have any questions or concerns about NAPLAN please contact your child’s classroom teacher.

The School Board is seeking Family Representatives for 2026 and beyond. The Board acts in an advisory role and meets six times per year. The first meeting for 2026 is to be held on Monday March 9th at 5pm. If you would like to join the School Board or would like more information please contact me directly.
