A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

It was a real honour to attend the Bombing of Darwin commemoration service recently with our Grade 6 students. This year marks the 84th anniversary of the air raids on Darwin and the top end launched by Japanese forces which killed over 230 people. Each year on February 19th this occasion is marked through a service at the Cenotaph on the Esplanade.
|
The Grade 6 students really enjoyed learning about this important piece of local history. A real highlight was performances by the military bands and the live re-enactment. The students also got to hear a range of speeches from dignitaries and elected officials.

Conversations for Learning
|
A reminder that the school will hold Conversations for Learning meetings on Tuesday March 10th between 3pm and 6pm. This is an opportunity for you to meet with your child’s classroom teacher to discuss their progress and achievement. Meetings will be held in person or by phone and bookings can be made by using the link below: https://www.schoolinterviews.com.au/code/cf7hf

If the date or times do not suit you please contact your child's classroom teacher to make an alternative arrangement. Bookings will close on Friday March 6th. The families of students with additional learning needs will be invited to take part in more detailed Educational Adjustment Plan (EAP) meetings later in March and will be contacted shortly.

The St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Sacramental Program for 2026 commences shortly.
|
The Sacrament of Reconciliation will start on Sunday 19th April 2026 at 5pm and will be celebrated on Wednesday 20th of May at 6:30pm at the Church.
The Sacrament of First Holy Communion will start on Sunday 19th of April 2026 at 5pm and will be celebrated on Sunday 31st of May 2026 at the 9am Mass.
The Sacrament of Confirmation will start on Sunday 19th of April 2026 at 5pm and will be celebrated by the Bishop of Darwin, the Most Rev Charles Gauci, on Saturday 23rd of May 2026 at 5pm Mass.

Susan McLean Cyber Safety Sessions
|
I am delighted to invite all parents and carers to attend cyber safety sessions facilitated by Susan McLean and supported by Catholic Education Northern Territory. Susan is Australia’s foremost expert in the area of cyber safety and was a member of Victoria Police for 27 years.
|
She is in the Darwin region to deliver a range of workshops for secondary students, teachers and families focused on growing up in an online environment. I have taken part in sessions with Susan in the past which were very informative and helpful in this ever changing landscape. More information and session times are included in the attached flyer.

A reminder that the School Board is seeking Family Representatives for 2026 and beyond. The Board acts in an advisory role and meets six times per year. The first meeting for 2026 is to be held on Monday March 9th at 5pm. If you would like to join the School Board or would like more information please contact me directly.
