A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
|

It has been a very busy time for the St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with this year's Sacramental Program concluding on Sunday with the celebration of First Holy Communion. I would like to congratulate the students from our school who recently received this sacrament: Jayden, Andrew, Daniel, Henry, and Anna. This is a very special milestone in their faith journey as they received Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time.

I also would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Arianna, who was recently confirmed in the Sacrament of Confirmation as part of the Pentecost celebration. Through this special sacrament, Arianna received the gifts of the Holy Spirit and was strengthened in her faith journey. It was wonderful to have Bishop Charles preside over this celebration at Humpty Doo.

There are a number of exciting activities coming up in the Diocese of Darwin in the coming weeks. Firstly, on Sunday June 7th the annual Eucharistic Procession will take place in the Darwin CBD. Mass will be celebrated at 4pm followed immediately by procession through the city concluding in the Cathedral with Benediction. Later in the month, the Ignite Conference will be held in the Northern Territory for the first time and will provide unique formation experiences, for more information see the website: https://igniteconference.com.au/darwin

I just wanted to provide an update on the re-opening of the Daly River (Nauiyu) community and its impact on the pop-up school which is operating on our school site. As announced by the Northern Territory Government, community members have begun returning to Daly River. This will be a gradual process as work continues to restore buildings and houses.

The pop-up school will continue to operate on our school site until all community members have returned to Daly River. It is difficult to provide exact timelines but it is estimated that the pop-up will no longer be required from early in Term Three. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the students, staff and families of St Francis of Assisi for being so welcoming and accommodating to the members of the Daly River community. A Night in Italy school fundraiser
|
A reminder that the school will hold 'A Night in Italy' fundraiser on Thursday June 18th. The organising committee has a great line up of activities and raffles prizes. Order forms and raffle tickets have been sent home but if you need more please contact the office. Look forward to seeing everyone on the night!
