A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Welcome and welcome back for Term 3! This term we welcome Chelsea Pugh as the new full-time classroom teacher in Room 6. She replaces Josephine Santos who is on maternity leave after welcoming her second child, a little girl named Mia, over the school break. Congratulations to Josephine and Dave!
|
Chelsea is an experienced teacher with over 11 years of classroom and leadership experience across Victoria and Western Australia. She is relocating to the Northern Territory with her family and her sons Brody and Noah have joined our school and Early Learning Centre.
|
This term we also welcome back Leanne Bolton who was on leave during Semester One. Leanne has returned on a part-time basis with a focus on junior literacy, numeracy and science. It is great to have Leanne back and school.
|
We also welcome some new students with Hannah T joining Room 6 and her younger sister Miley starting at ELC. Logan C and Spencer C also join St Francis this term as they take a break in the Top End on their trip around Australia.

Year of St Francis of Assisi
|
As a school community we continue to celebrate the Jubilee Year of St Francis of Assisi. At the end of Term 2 we held the 'Night in Italy' fundraising evening. Despite some unseasonal rain and sound system issues it was a great night. A big thank you to everyone who supported the event helping with the organising, donating gifts or just coming along on the night. As well as being a great celebration, the event was also a great fundraiser with over $4000 raised!

Over the school holidays we had a new mural painted in the undercover area to mark the Jubilee Year of St Francis of Assisi. Darwin-based artist Jason Lee did an amazing job in capturing the spirit of St Francis within the context of our school community. Jason is a well-known artist who has completed many public art pieces including works in the annual Darwin Street Art Festival.

On the first day of term our school staff participated in our Catholic Identity Day. This year's theme was ‘Walking the Way of St Francis - Peace in Action’. The day was facilitated by Catherine Moore from Catholic Education Northern Territory with support from Father Mate from the St Francis of Assisi Parish. In this special Jubilee Year of St Francis of Assisi, the Humpty Doo Catholic Church which bears his name has become a very popular destination with many making a pilgrimage. There will be more celebrations later in the year for St Francis of Assisi's Feast Day in October.
