Message from Jen

Dear families,

A National Day of Mourning has been granted across Australia for Thursday 22nd September. This public holiday is to coincide with a memorial service for the Queen.

On Friday 23rd of September we have our ‘COLOUR FUN RUN’ where our students will be running rainbows. The fun run will be held after recess and we invite parents to come along and join us. We look forward to seeing the bright smiles and bright colours!

Our Year 3/ 4 class held an alfresco dinner last Thursday and it was a 5 star affair. Many families came to support the students and we thank them for joining the class to dine under the stars. The students were able to showcase the work the students have done to create an outdoor garden. The learning across the curriculum in Term 2 & 3 in our outdoor garden and then in the kitchen cooking delicious dishes using our produce.

NAPLAN results for our students in Years 3 and 5 will be going home next week. Our students are to be commended for their efforts during the testing period and for their achievements. If you have any queries around your child’s report, please make a time to meet with your child’s classroom teacher.

We thank the Rotary Club of Litchfield/Palmerston as they have purchased three beautiful Children’s books for our school library, two by local Northern Territory Authors, and an Australian wildlife picture story book. The students will enjoy reading these, I am sure.

St Francis of Assisi Parish is celebrating the feast of our parish. They invite the school community to come and join them to celebrate the feast of our parish St Francis of Assisi, with a mass at 9am followed by a light meal on Sunday the 9th of October. Please bring a plate to share. You can bring a dish from your country of origin and wear your national costume.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Lord, help us to find the gifts and talents that you have given us. Help us to ‘search for the hero’ when things don’t go our way or when we need to be reminded of the positives in our lives. Help us also to recognise the hero in others and to help them celebrate those good qualities.
Amen
