Dear families,

Term 3 has nearly come to an end! Friday will be a great end to the term with our COLOUR FUN RUN! We invite families to join us as the students are sprayed, splashed and painted all colours of the rainbow. We will also celebrate mass in the morning at 9:00am on Friday 23 September and welcome families to join us. Our colour fun begins at 11:15pm and welcome all families to join in the fun.

THANK YOU to everyone for supporting the crazy hair and sock fundraiser for Angus and his family. The creative hairstyles were fabulous and the crazy socks rocked. We thank the school community for your generous donations, it is so appreciated. If you would like to donate at a later date, we will keep this open for the start of next term.

Last week our school undertook a school review using the National School Improvement Tool (NSIT) with a reviewer from Canberra. This was a very thorough and affirming process providing the opportunity to reflect on current practices and progress at St Francis. Our reviewer worked closely and collaboratively with staff and stakeholders to identify existing strengths and provide recommendations to inform the school’s next improvement cycle. We will update families early in Term 4 when we are provided with the report.

We farewell Mrs Ester Modoh from our Year 3/ 4 classroom and thank her for the guidance, support and learning opportunities she gave to the students in Term 2 and Term 3. We also farewell Mrs Nicola Allison as she moves back to New Zealand. We thank Nicola for providing the Year 5/ 6 students with such strong academic skills, developing in all students the motivation to strive for improvement and for the social emotional growth and support provided to the class. We wish them both well in their future endeavours. We welcome back Mrs Evi Dando to St Francis in the Year 3/4 classroom next Term.

Our Year 6 students attended the Catholic Schools Public Speaking Competition at St Mary’s last Friday. All Year 5/ 6 students are to be commended for the work they did in class to research, prepare and present a speech on the topic ‘E-Waste is detrimental to our society!’ We congratulate Marlise who had an outstanding speech and represented St Francis, she spoke clearly, confidently and explained how to solve the problem. Thank you to Mrs Allison and Mr Brodie for the behind the scenes work for the students.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy school holiday break.
Jen
