“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” —Malcolm X.

Hello families,

I have had the pleasure of working across the classrooms and I have enjoyed seeing the students apply themselves to tasks. I have been impressed with their confidence to ask for clarification and teacher assistance if needed. I have read some exciting stories that had me hooked from the start with expressive writing and well developed story lines. I have learnt some very interesting facts on animals as the students researched and wrote information reports. Our teachers are very dedicated and prepare engaging lessons that target the individual needs of their students. I look forward to spending more time across the classrooms next week.

Spirit of Jesus
Where have you seen the Spirit of Jesus this week? I saw it on the playground when an older student stopped to comfort a younger child who was crying. I heard it in the classroom when someone said, "Just keep trying and you might get it," in a lesson. I felt it when a parent I hadn't met yet smiled at me and said hello this morning.

Students will soon receive Project Compassion boxes to take home to assist with the collection of donations during Lent. The theme of Project Compassion for 2023 is ‘For All Future Generations’ and reminds us that the good we do today extends to impact the lives of generations to come.

Boxes with monetary donations can be brought back to school after Easter school holidays (Term Two, Week 1). We will then collectively count the donations by doing a whole school money trail! For further information about Project Compassion please visit the Caritas Australia website at: www.caritas.org.au/project-compassion .

P & F
The P & F have many events planned for this year and would welcome additional assistance from our families as we all know that many hands make light work. To be on the P & F you don’t have to commit to every event! If you are interested in having a few laughs with a great group of people please let the front office know. We are seeking assistance for our first P & F event for this year, please shout out if you can assist.

Hoedown 31st March
Our P & F are organising a fabulous event for our school community. ‘The Hoedown’ will be a fun time for everyone to get their groove on. There will be food, tunes to dance to, raffles and games. Keep the 31st March free in your calendar as you will not want to miss the Hoedown.

God Bless,
Jen
