“May the hearts of those who have enough be open to filling the empty hands of those who do not have the bare necessities”
– Pope Francis
NAPLAN has officially come to a close for 2023. Thank you to our staff and families for having our students ready and encouraging our students to do their best.

We have some reminders for school happenings. Our Year 1/T class are looking forward to sharing their talents at assembly tomorrow. We have the St Francis School Advisory Council meeting on Monday in the library at 5:30pm. Your commitment and involvement on behalf of our community means a great deal. Thank you in advance for your support for our Project Compassion fundraisers next week.

The students have been collaborating in class gaining understanding of Lent and we will be celebrating Holy Week with the students next week. Holy Week, the final week of Lent, begins on Palm Sunday the Sunday before Easter, which will be celebrated this weekend. Holy Week is a time when Catholics gather to remember and participate in the Passion of Jesus Christ. This is a great opportunity to talk to your child about this very important time and how the small things we do make a big difference.

Tomorrow night will be an event you do not want to miss. We hope to see you there tomorrow from 6-8pm. Please support the school and our P & F who have worked so hard for this event to be a success for our families. The students are so excited and can’t stop talking about it. A huge shout out to everyone who has assisted but it would not have been possible without Renae, Gemma, Alana and Annamarie. We appreciate and thank you for your efforts.

See you all tomorrow night.

PALM SUNDAY
Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem
Matthew 21
“A large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and that followed were shouting, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

This weekend we celebrate Palm Sunday when we remember Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. As the people laid their cloaks and palm branches on the ground and welcomed him as their hero, I wonder if he was fully aware of the fate that he was to encounter in the coming few days. Jesus was a radical during his time on earth and was prepared to question the justice of events that were happening. He was there for others and was prepared to give up everything to support their cause. It was through his great love that we have such a wonderful example to follow, and I pray that we, too, will have courage to stand up for others when we encounter injustice in our world.
