Dear Families and Friends,
Welcome back to another school year. I trust that everyone has a super festive season and a marvellous new year. This is a very exciting time for everyone - learning how to navigate new classes and expectations, meeting new friends and teachers and adjusting to new demands and expectations. Please always remember we work in partnership with our families, so if you have a particular concern about your child/ren or would like to share an appreciation with your teacher, please do not hesitate to contact them as they are more than happy to work alongside you.

Thank you to everyone who supported our Christmas raffle for 2020. There were some very excited prize winners at the assembly. We also congratulate all those students who received awards for their excellent achievements at our end of year mass.
This year we welcome Evi Dando to our community. Mrs Dando has been teaching for a few years and comes to us from another school in Darwin. She will be with us until the end of Term 1 when Ashlea White will return from maternity leave.
We welcome back Mrs Flynn who will be teaching T/1, Mrs Woodroffe who will be teaching 1/2 and Mrs Gullefer who will be teaching 5/6.

We value student leadership at St Francis and the students having a voice. Therefore we work towards providing opportunities for our students to develop and use leadership skills and qualities.

Next Friday at assembly we have invited our Year 6 students to give their speeches about the qualities they believe they have to offer as a school student leader. The school community will then vote for their student representatives. The School Captains for 2021 will be announced at our whole school new year mass on Wednesday the 17th of February.
Congratulations to Ashleigh Overall who was the 2021 St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School recipient for the Student Citizen Award. This award is given to a student for their contribution to their school and community and was presented at the Australia Day Ceremony at Fred's Pass.
Our choir also led everyone in the National Anthem at the ceremony. I was very proud of our choir who represented us so well. Thank you to the families who supported us with ensuring their child was at Fred's Pass and in full school uniform even though they were all still on school holidays.

The school calendar has been sent home. We will advise families of any changes to dates or events. I ask that all families please put into their diaries our Parent Information Night (PIN) which is coming up on Tuesday the 16th of February. This is a fabulous opportunity for parents to informally meet their child/ren's teacher/s. The teachers will be sharing with parents their expectations for the year and explain how they do things in their class including; curriculum, behavioural expectations, homework requirements, classroom routines and any other planned events.

I am very excited about working with families this year. I pray that we are able to participate in all the events and activities that we have planned. And I thank everyone in advance for working with us.

Grow in Wisdom and Love.
