Newsletter Week 5

Dear St Francis Families,

It is the halfway mark of Term 3, it has gone so fast! We began Week 5 with a mass on Monday morning to mark the Feast of the Assumption of Mary which is a holy day of obligation celebrated every year on August 15th. We thank Father Rodrigo, our student readers and singers for making our mass so special. We reflected on the gift of Mary and her living example of obedience, compassion, kindness, faithfulness and service to God and others.

Our Faction Carnival was a great event, enjoyed by everyone. We thank Mr Michael Anderson, the school staff and our amazing parent team for making our carnival a success. Every student is to be commended for the team spirit and have a go attitude. Our ELC and parent runners were sensational! Please see below our action shots from the day. Thank you for the delicious cakes donated to raise money for our P & F, the stall was a great success.

The National Science Week 2022 theme is Glass: More than meets the eye. At our Science Fair on Friday students will have the opportunity to turn a window into a mirror, make a kaleidoscope, explore with magnifying glasses and participate in fun science experiments. At our family picnic we will share our experiments with our families.

Book Week is next week and the theme is Dreaming with Eyes Open. Our students will participate in a Book Week parade so start planning your costume. We encourage creativity using recycled materials for costumes.

Our family picnic is on Friday and we hope you can pop down to say hello. This is an opportunity to get to know the wonderful families in our community. Bring a picnic to enjoy with your families. Your child can show you some science experiments before they have fun on the oval with their friends. The adults can then have a chat together. We welcome ideas of how to build our community and hope to have many community events in the future.

Our AGM is on Monday 22nd August at 5:30pm and invite everyone to come along. We will be inviting nominations for vacant board positions for the year ahead and welcome all interested parties.

Have a great weekend.
