A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

unnamed
Hi All,

This week we bring an end to what has been an action packed term at St Francis of Assisi. Throughout Term Three the school has hosted a number of different activities which have encouraged our students to learn, grow and display their gifts.

On a personal note, I have found my first term as Principal at St Francis of Assisi to be very rewarding and encouraging. From my first day I was made to feel very welcome by the students, staff and families of the school community. Very early on I also identified the great potential of the school and its many positive aspects. I look forward to continuing to get to know the school community over the rest of 2023.

By talking to students, staff and families of St Francis of Assisi, I have identified some areas of future growth for the school. The five broad categories listed below will be my focus areas for the remainder of this year and into 2024:
  • Clear and consistent behaviour management processes
  • Consistent high quality teaching and assessment
  • Clear communication with both parents and staff
  • Honouring and building upon the school’s traditions
  • Making the most of the school’s facilities and resources
Public Speaking Competition
Last week the school was very well represented at the Grade Six Catholic Schools Public Speaking Competition by Sariah Bunting. The competition saw representatives from all Catholic Primary schools in Darwin region prepare and deliver a two-minute speech on whether or not there should be a crocodile cull in the Northern Territory.

The competitors also had to deliver an impromptu speech where they were given a topic and just 30 seconds to prepare before delivering a one minute speech. The quality of the competition was outstanding and Sariah should be very proud of her efforts on the day. The day also provided a great opportunity for our Grade Six students to meet and participate in activities with students from other Catholic Primary Schools.

St Francis of Assisi Feast Day
The week across the school we have been celebrating St Francis of Assisi in the lead up to his Feast Day on October 4th. This Friday, September 22nd, all students will attend a special mass at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church from 9:30am. We will then have our Crazy Colour Day activities from 11:05am. Any additional helpers would be greatly appreciated.

Vacation Care and Holiday Office Hours
During the school holidays, the school will hold a Vacation Care program. Please contact the office for more details or a booking form. During the school holiday period the school office will be open between 9:30am and 2:30pm each day except for Monday October 2nd.
