A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

unnamed
Hi All,

Welcome back to Term Four! It has been wonderful to see everyone’s smiling faces back at school. This term we welcome Indiana Heffernan and her family to the St Francis of Assisi school community. I am sure that everyone will make them feel most welcome.

As we move into the build up and wet season the school has made a few changes to procedures to keep everyone cool. Students will now eat their recess and lunch in their classrooms. The school library will also be open for students at play time on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please ensure all students are coming to school with a hat and drink bottle.

St Francis Feast Day and Crazy Colour Day
On the final day of Term Three we marked the Feast Day of St Francis of Assisi with a whole school mass and our Crazy Colour Day. Thank you to all the staff and families who helped out on the day - it was a lot of fun!

On Sunday our local parish in Humpty Doo also celebrated the Feast Day of St Francis of Assisi with a shared lunch. It was wonderful to celebrate the occasion with so many members of the parish.

Made in the Image of God curriculum
As per my letter to families earlier in the week, in the coming weeks all classes will participate in lessons from the Made in the Image of God (MITIOG) - Human Sexuality Curriculum program. All content covered in the curriculum is age appropriate grounded firmly in a Catholic understanding of the human person. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me or your child’s classroom teacher.

2024 Planning
Although there is still lots of the 2023 school year left to go as a school we are starting to plan ahead for 2024. All families should have now received a letter asking to indicate if their children will be returning to St Francis of Assisi next year. This information will assist as we put together class groupings for 2024.

The school is also accepting enrolments for our Transition class of 2024. If you or someone you know has a child starting school next year please contact the office to arrange a school tour and interview. The school is holding a Transition Parent Information Session on Thursday, October 26th at 5:30pm in the school library.

Top End Native Plant Sale
This Saturday, October 14th, between 8am and 4pm our Grade Six students will be operating a stall at the Top End Native Plant Sale. The event is being held at the Humpty Doo Village Green. The students will be selling cold drinks and snacks. All money raised will go towards the students graduation day-out activities. Please come along and support our students!
