Hello families,

We are halfway through Term 1 and it has just flown! We are so looking forward to welcoming our parents back on school grounds. As of Monday, parents can walk their students to class and pick them up, yay! We ask that you don’t enter classrooms but stay outside in the fresh air and continue to adhere to CHO directions. It will be lovely for both you and our staff to be able to finally have a face to face chat.

Father Rodrigo led our Ash Wednesday Liturgies. The children received the ashes which were produced by burning the palms from last year’s Palm Sunday celebration. The ashes symbolise the dust from which God made us and are a reminder of our humanity. We wear ashes to show that we want to turn away from whatever keeps us from God, and to have a change of heart, so that we can live in the right relationship with God and each other. The students sang beautifully and were so reverent.

We encourage family involvement at St Francis and are shouting out to our talented families. If you have a flair for the arts, physical education, music, cooking, woodwork, the list is endless, we invite you to share this with our students. Don't be shy and come and chat to me as we would love to use your gifts to enrich our students.

We look forward to the coming weeks at school.

Have a wonderful weekend, stay safe and enjoy precious time with your family.

Digital Citizenship Agreements

Digital Citizenship Agreements have been sent home with your child. If you have not returned this please do so on Monday. Please spend some time over the weekend to read through this together and return the signed document to school. The purpose of this document is to advise on school expectations and appropriate care of digital technologies. If you would like another copy these are available at the front office.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BOOKS

Saint Francis is registered for the Chief Minister's Reading Challenge 2022. Let's get reading and read 12 books in 24 weeks. Printed books, digital books and audiobooks are all part of the challenge. For younger children, a book that is read aloud by an adult counts towards their total. Use your membership to your local library to access eResources available from the borrow box. Students can get a record sheet from their classroom teacher.

ELC and PRESCHOOL

The ELC and Preschool students have had a fabulous week. The Preschool students were very excited to come to big school for the Ash Wednesday liturgy. Our doctors were fabulous at curing the sick, and made everyone feel better. The disco lights have been flashing and the children have been getting their groove on. Water play fun has been a blast. Hide and seek has been the game of choice. The wonderful staff have been creating great hiding spaces.
