A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

unnamed
Hi All,

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… not quite but we are gearing up for the Darwin Christmas Pageant. As last year’s winners of the walking group category there are big expectations for St Francis of Assisi’s entry this year. Last year the school went with a nativity theme whereas this year we are changing things up with gift themed costumes.

A big thank you to everyone who has donated boxes and decorated them. I think that Miss Nola and Renae Scown need a special mention for their efforts. If you would like to join in with the pageant please contact the office. Otherwise it would be great to have lots of supporters cheering us on. The pageant is held in Darwin’s CBD on Saturday November 18th. More information can be found at the pageant’s website: https://www.averydarwinchristmas.com.au/christmas-pageant/

Also as we head into the festive period we think of those less fortunate than us. St Francis of Assisi is again supporting the St Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal. We are asking families to donate grocery items which will be distributed by St Vinnies to those most at need in our community.

Transition Orientation Sessions
Last week we held our first orientation session for our Transition students for 2024. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to start to familiarise themselves with each other, the school and their 2024 teacher Mrs Dando. These orientation sessions will continue each Thursday morning in November.

Enrolments are open for all year levels for 2024 so if you know someone who has a child starting school please have them contact the school office for a tour. To assist with 2024 planning I also ask all families to complete their intentions for next year. This information will help us plan class groupings.

Apple for a Teacher
Hot100FM’s Apple for the Teacher promotion is back again for its 6th consecutive year in 2023.
This promotion is to find the Northern Territory’s best teacher, as voted for by students. The
promotion aims to shine a light on teachers and the impact they have on our children.

I am very pleased to announce that St Francis of Assisi’s very own Miss Santos has been nominated. Please get behind her and our school by voting. More details are attached below.
