A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
|
|
This Sunday marks the Second Sunday of the Advent Season. Peace is a central theme of the Advent season but the main focus of the second week of Advent. One of the prophecies about Jesus calls him “the Prince of Peace”. This idea of Jesus as a peacemaker is often referred to in scripture and Gospel reflections.
|
Peace is a simple word that has a vast array of connotations from peace with oneself to peace throughout the world. In St Francis of Assisi’s prayer he talks about being an instrument of the Lord’s peace. During this Season of Advent it is a great opportunity to reflect on how we are peacemakers in our own lives.
|
Thinking on a world scale, the Second Sunday of Advent provides an opportunity to pray for peace around the world. In particular we think of those caught up in conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine. It is also an opportunity to be grateful for the peace we enjoy in Australia.
|
Our staff are currently busy planning ahead for the 2024 school year. This has involved looking at how we can best meet the needs of our students. In the coming weeks the school will communicate some changes in class groupings, approaches to teaching and learning and the use of learning spaces for the 2024 school year.
|
There is lots of work to be done prior to next year, but I am very excited about the direction the school is heading. I really appreciate the input I have received from staff, students and families about ways that we can make St Francis of Assisi even better.

Change of Opening Date for ELC and Vacation Care for 2024
|
|
Due to additional training required for our Early Learning Centre and Outside of School Hours Care staff we have had to change the 2024 opening date for children at our Early Learning Centre and Vacation Care services.
|
The first day for children at both our Early Learning Centre and Vacation Care will now be Wednesday, January 10th 2024 and not Tuesday, January 9th, 2024 as previously communicated.
|
I apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause families.
