A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
The Feast of Christmas is not too far away now with this Sunday marking the Third Sunday of Advent. Traditionally called Gaudete Sunday from the Latin word meaning “rejoice”, the theme for this week of advent is joy. This is an opportunity to reflect on the joy that the world experienced at the birth of Jesus. In the busyness of the end of the year and Christmas time it is easy to forget the real reason for the season.
This week we celebrated the Graduation of our Year Six students. This is a momentous occasion in the lives of these students, their families and teachers. The students enjoyed a wonderful fun day out at the Wave Pool on Tuesday followed by Mass and Dinner on Wednesday. We were blessed to have Bishop Charles join Father Rodrigo to say mass and pass on many words of wisdom.
As our Year Six students head off to Secondary School, on behalf of everyone at St Francis of Assisi, I wish them all the best. I hope that they look back on their time at our school fondly. I also hope that the school has helped prepare them both academically and socially for the next stages of their lives.
In the words of William Arthur Ward, ‘‘If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it.’’
It is my pleasure to announce that Cindy Zheng will join our teaching team in 2024. Cindy is currently a Grade 4/5 Teacher at Howard Springs Primary School. She will take on the role of a Classroom Teacher in one of our Senior Classes next year.
Cindy will replace Miss Nikita who is seeking other opportunities next year. On behalf of all at St Francis of Assisi, I want to thank Nitika for her service and wish her all the best in the future.
As the school has now finalised its teaching staff for next year, I can announce our Class Structure for 2024. Families will receive individual letters of student placements.
Finally I would like to thank everyone for welcoming me so warmly to the St Francis of Assisi school community. It has been a very busy but rewarding term. I hope that everyone has a chance for some rest and relaxation with loved ones over the break!
