A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

unnamed
Hi All,

Throughout the Church season of Lent the students at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary school have been learning about the wonderful work carried out across the world by Caritas Australia. The organisation’s major event each year is Project Compassion where schools and parishes across Australia come together to hold fundraising events.

Last week, we held Crazy Sock Day, where students (and staff) wore bright and colourful socks and donated a small amount to Project Compassion. The school was able to raise over $100 which will be donated to Caritas Australia to continue their life saving work. To learn more about Caritas Australia and Project Compassion please visit their website - https://www.caritas.org.au/project-compassion/

Thoughts and Prayer
On behalf of the school community I would like to extend our condolences to Ruby and Nate Johns whose father passed away recently. We keep them and their family in our thoughts and prayers at this time.

Understanding and supporting children who have experienced grief and loss can be very challenging. Emerging Minds, https://emergingminds.com.au/, have some good online resources. The school can also offer additional support through our partnership with Catholic Care.

Director’s Visit
Last week the Director of Catholic Education Northern Territory, Paul Greaves, visited our school. Mr Greaves was particularly interested in visiting classrooms and speaking with students about their learning. It was wonderful to have Mr Greaves at the school and we look forward to his next visit.

Vacation Care
A reminder that our Outside of School Hours Care (OSHC) Team will be running a Vacation Care program through the upcoming school holidays. If your child requires care for all or part of the holiday period please contact the front office and complete the booking form included below.

School Closure Day
Please note that the school will have a closure day on Friday April 26th to allow staff to participate in a Catholic Identity Day professional learning session. There will be no Vacation Care on this day but our Early Learning Centre will operate as normal.

Indonesian Consulate Visit
In the lead up to Harmony Day, last week we had a special visit by staff from the Indonesian Consulate of Darwin. The group performed a traditional dance from Northern Sumatra and shared some facts about Indonesia with our students. The school will hold its Harmony Day celebrations today.
