Extra Curricula Programs

Music

At St Francis the children are offered the opportunity to be part of the choir from Transition to year 6. The students are given the opportunities to perform at many different events around the Rural area, Palmerston and Darwin.

MacKillop Catholic College in Palmerston, also provides opportunities for students to participate in an instrumental program at the school. If you are interested in your child learning a musical instrument please contact our Administration Officer for further details.

Swimming

As part of our Physical Education Program students from Transition to year 2 participate in the swimming program each year. The emphasis in these lessons is on water safety and is taught through the swimming program at the Goldfish Pond in Palmerston. The children receive a Certificate from upon the successful completion of each stage of the course.

Tennis

In partnership with NT Tennis, St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School offers students the opportunity to participate in tennis lessons. Lessons are held in small age groups during the school day. The $100 NT Sports voucher can be used.

Interschool sport

 Interschool sport or [PARRS] Palmerston and Rural Representative Sport is offered to students in Years 4-6 to represent the school at various interschool sporting events throughout the year including basketball, Australian rules, netball, cricket, soccer, athletics, touch football.

Student Leadership Program

We believe everyone can be a leader.

St Francis of Assisi has a number of leadership programs to engage students and foster leadership at all age groups.  These leadership programs include:

  • School Captains
  • House Captains
  • Student Representative Council

Students in Year 5 participate in a two day leadership workshop in term four to prepare them  to be students leaders for the following year.

School Counsellor

Our school counsellor, offers a free counselling service to any students who has been referred by their parent or caregiver. Families can also attend free counselling sessions provided by Catholic Care.
